Title : CMS Medication Administration New Guidelines: Getting Rid of the 30 Minute Rule
Speaker : Sue Dill

Duration : 90 minutes

Webplay Recording Date : 4-3-2012
Webplay Price : $ 200 for two weeks viewing

Webinar Overview:

CMS has changed the problematic standard that said all medications must be given within 30 minutes of the scheduled time. Hospitals must update their policies and procedures to include these new regulations and need to provide education to their staff. Hospitals should consider adding this information to their nursing orientation program. Medical staff must approve the medication timing policy and know the CMS requirements.

These new CMS guidelines discuss the timing of medications, plus includes changes to standing orders, protocols, order sets, and more. This new interpretive guideline changes tag 404 and 405 in the CMS hospital Condition of Participation manual. All hospitals that receive Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement must follow the hospital Conditions of Participation and they must be followed for all patients. Don’t be found out of compliance with these new interpretive guidelines. Come learn what the new changes require.
